Lois Reitzes
Executive Producer and Host
City Lights, Arts and Culture Programming
Lois Reitzes has been a beloved voice on WABE 90.1 and cornerstone of Atlanta's radio landscape since 1979. From 1982 to 2015, she hosted the popular weekday radio program, SECOND CUP CONCERT, showcasing classical music. In 2015, she transitioned to CITY LIGHTS WITH LOIS REITZES, a groundbreaking arts and culture program dedicated to elevating Atlanta's vibrant creative scene. In addition to CITY LIGHTS, Reitzes produces and hosts WABE’s Atlanta Symphony Orchestra broadcasts. Her engaging interviews with artists, musicians, and cultural figures provide a platform for diverse voices and expressions in the arts. Recently, she was inducted into the Georgia Radio Hall of Fame, recognizing her significant contributions to radio broadcasting and her role in shaping Atlanta's cultural landscape. This prestigious honor highlights her commitment to quality programming and her influence over four decades. Reitzes cherishes reading—preferably while eating—and dreams of an island getaway in Manhattan. She holds a special fondness for Mozart, Mel Brooks, Motown, and the Muppets. Above all, she radiates joy when speaking about her family, including her husband Don, with whom she has shared 48 wonderful years. Lois Reitzes's enduring legacy at WABE and her recent Hall of Fame induction solidify her status as an iconic figure in Atlanta's arts and culture community.
